Fuel Your Energy Levels

In today's fast-paced world, it is not uncommon to feel our energy levels being depleted as the day progresses. Health and energy go hand in hand and a healthy body has a fine-tuned set of mechanisms in place to regulate energy levels. Because a variety of body systems contribute to this process the best way to keep optimum natural energy levels is to support the body is through systemic balance.
The body relies on every organ to support natural energy levels. When one body system is compromised a domino effect is created, with one system affecting the next.
There are several natural energy boosters. Eating a well-balanced diet that incorporates fresh fruits and vegetables is a simple way. Also, adequate sleep is a vital component to support natural energy levels and increase stamina. Scientists are still unsure of the exact processes in the brain that take place during sleep, but what they do agree on is that sleep is an anabolic, or building, process - sleep helps to restore the body’s energy supplies that have been depleted through the day’s activities. Information on Airborne Allergies, Hayfever and Allergic Rhinitis

Information on airborne allergies, hayfever and allergic rhinitis
(Please note that this information is provided for educational purposes only and is not intended to replace the services of a medical professional)
With every breath we take, we breathe in millions of microscopic particles such as dust, pollen, plant spores, viruses, bacteria and even pollutants in the form of chemicals in the air or substances that come into contact with the skin and mucous membranes.
Many of these particles are filtered and removed by the nose and respiratory system, while others enter the body. If the immune system is strong and healthy, it can ward off infection against pollutants, viruses and other harmful substances that may enter the body via the air or by contact with the skin.
Normally the immune system will ignore harmless substances entering the body (e.g. pollen, house dust, animal dander, etc). In some people, however, the immune system misinterprets these harmless particles and identifies them as being dangerous to the system.
This triggers a release of a substance called histamine, as well as other inflammatory compounds in the body. This prompts the body to defend itself against the perceived threat by means of a number of mechanisms, including sneezing, mucous production, watering itchy eyes and skin inflammation, thus causing problems like allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, hayfever and skin rashes.
People who develop allergic rhinitis in warm weather, windy conditions or at spring time are generally allergic to grass, tree and flower pollens. Those who have this reaction all year round are probably also allergic to house dust, mold or animal dander.
Because the mucous membranes of the nose and respiratory tract are affected, people with allergic rhinitis are often more vulnerable to colds, sinusitis, influenza and other respiratory infections, setting up a vicious cycle of a compromised immune system, increased allergies, progressive fatigue and weakening of the system.
Antihistamines can be very effective and many people with severe allergies to airborne substances find it very difficult to lead a normal life without them. By preventing or reducing the allergic reaction, antihistamines can also help to prevent the illness cycle that arises due to frequent allergic attacks.
Tips for remaining allergy free
There are many ways to support health naturally and therefore help to reduce the frequency and severity of allergy responses.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle to promote healthy immune systems. This means regular exercise, healthy, preferably organic diet and sufficient sleep.
Eat lots of fresh raw fruit and vegetables which contain rich sources of flavonoids and other nutrients. Learn stress management and relaxation techniques. Stress can exacerbate allergies by weakening the immune system.
Avoid cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine and other recreational drugs, which weaken immune and respiratory tract functioning. (For those struggling to quit smoking, see our Native Remedies Stop Smoking UltraPack. The best thing you can do for your allergies is to stop smoking!)
Add Vitamin C and A to your daily supplements.
Keep an eye on the pollen count in your area and stay indoors when it is high

Herbs and Why They Work

As long as mankind has walked the earth, we have relied on natures abundance to cure our ills. The earliest recordings of man using plants for medicinal purposes is around 1550 BC.
Aristotle and Hippo-crates the early "doctors" or "Medicine Men" developed systems of medicine using herbs.
Today 25% of prescription drugs and 60% of our over the counter medicines are produced from plants. For example the common aspirin is from willow bark.
Herbalists believe that plants are a perfect expression of nature and represent balance. For deep healing to take place in our natural body it is necessary to use the natural elements found in plants that grow in the wild. Herbalism looks to treat the whole person not just a symptom.
First of all, the body needs to be cleansed and eliminate toxins. After this, herbs are used to stimulate the body's self-healing powers and remove the underlying cause of illness. Then the herbs are used to nourish and tone all the organs and systems of the body from the inside out.
Herbs can also be dangerous if not used properly, if you choose to follow a natural approach to your health with herbs make sure you are dealing with a trained herbalist or if you are interested in trying a natural herb to replace an over the counter product make sure you go to a reputable source and that you educate yourself on the properties of the herb and how it works in the body.

Herbalism: How does it work?
The Facts:
Beyond our use of them in cooking, herbs have been used as a potent form of medicine for centuries by the Chinese, Native Americans and Shamans, to name a few.
Alongside advances in medical science, they still remain one of the most widely prescribed remedies throughout the world and have proved to be an effective treatment for a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
Statistics say they are used safely and successfully by 80pc of the world's population today. In the UK alone over £40m a year is spent on over-the-counter herbal products.
Remedies include bottled tinctures, fresh, dried or powdered plant elements, herbal infusions, teas, compresses, poultices and ointments.
The effect of the herbs differ, but the general purpose is to improve and strengthen the overall functioning of a particular organ or system.
The Evidence:
Herbs are used for a variety of ailments including digestive problems including IBS, skin complaints, asthma, chronic fatigue, urinary and gynaecological problems, premenstrual and menopausal syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and migraine. The best known clinical trials regarding herbalism have been on the effectiveness of St John's Wort in treating mild to moderate depression.
Other studies show echinacea to be effective on boosting the immune system. In the EU, all herbal medicines must have a proven track record of safety. As herbs can be toxic ,it is essential to consult a qualified medical herbalist.

The Healing Properties of Colors

Does color play a role in our physical well being? I know for me color can certainly effect my mood from calm to happy etc. I even have a list of colors I call happy colors. Here are some definitions of color that can perhaps have healing powers. You may also gain some insight into why you are attracted to certain colors.
Color usually has to be applied in large areas in order to affect someone. Still, there are some generalities which you may wish to keep in mind.BLACK is supposed to ward off evil, I don't think it would be a good color for a depressed person. For the bold, it makes a statement of mystery and strength.RED is a joyful, purifying color. It is a dynamic color which promotes courage and passion. Add red when energy and self-esteem is needed.ORANGE has many of the attributes of red, like warmth and vitality, but is less aggressive in nature. It is useful in blocking stagnation and promoting creativity. Good for stimulating circulation and blood flow in the body.PINK is said to heal broken hearts and other emotional wounds. It is also a color for relaxation. The most beneficial pinks are the darker tones of bubble-gum and magenta.YELLOW stimulates the mind and clears thoughts. Use for digestive problems and allergies, but avoid yellows with a green tone. Instead, use a bright, clear yellow.PURPLE is considered a color of the divine. It stimulates the mind and the state of imagination and creativity. The use of violet can help one turn daydreams into reality by enhancing this flow. Good for balancing the energies in general.BLUE brings calm and peace. It brings us inward and allows us a deeper understanding of our inner being. It allows us to channel the thoughts which best lead to actualization without being confused or side tracked by unimportant thoughts that would otherwise clutter the pathway.GREEN promotes growth and general healing. Green is the color of growth and expansion of both mind and spirit. It creates a peaceful feeling and can be used to relieve tension and stress.TURQUOISE is an ancient color that has been used for centuries and by all cultures throughout the world. Turquoise is used to express individuality and creativity. It reduces toxins in the body, and adds new life to old projects. It offers freedom from whatever has been holding one back.

Natural Bee and Wasp Sting Remedy

Natural bee sting remedy and wasp sting remedy. "Bee prepared" with knowledge.
Here is what I recommend for a natural bee sting remedy and wasp sting remedy.
For most of us, bee stings aren’t a big deal. However, for some they are fatal. Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention of the person’s tongue swells, has difficultly breathing, you observe a sudden rash, or the person complains of nausea or blurred vision.
If a person is allergic, make sure you check to see if they have a special “pen” that injects epinephrine. It helps dilate their airways.
Basically you have three things to do for most people when they get a sting...
Extract the sting
Cleans the wound
Find relief
My ALL TIME FAVORITE bee sting remedy and wasp sting remedy that works like a charm.
Here is one of those natural home remedies that I said “yeah, right!” the first time I heard it. But, after 15 years of using this remedy on myself and others, I swear by it.
Believe it or not, the answer is all around you.
The plant is plantain. (Plantago major (broad leaf) and Plantago lanceolata (long leafed or English plantain) ) This is a common “weed” found anywhere where soil has been disturbed. You’ll recognize it growing in the cracks of your neighborhood sidewalks.

This free video eBook has a lesson on using plantain. How to identify it, pick it, as well as use it. You also learn how to build your own herbal apothecary.
How to use this effective natural bee sting remedy:
Pick a few leaves of plantain from a clean source. Try to gather it away from the side of the road. Also away from places where chemicals are sprayed. HOWEVER, it an emergency, you get it where you can get it.
Chew the leaves up real good keeping the plant matter and saliva in the FRONT of your mouth.
Spit it out on to your bee or wasp sting site.
Hold it on the sting site for a few minutes until you feel relief. Repeat if necessary.
Plantain is well known to have amazing drawing power. Broad leaf plantain is preferred, but if all you can find if long leaf plantain, then that works too. Plantain also cleans and provides relief.
Last summer, at Wilderness Awareness School’s summer camps, a young camper got over 60 yellow jack stings when she stepped on a nest. Our instructors applied plantain. After camp that day, she felt fine and even went out for ice cream. She was back in action the next day!
Plantain works for cut and scrapes too!
You can also use plantain in the same way if you get a cut or scrape when you are out side without your travel first aid kit.
Kitchen remedies
Baking soda: mix the baking soda with vinegar and apply the thick paste to the wound.
Onions: Lay a fresh slice of onion on the sting.
Apple Cider Viegar: The raw kind. Spectrum or Braggs are good brands, available at all health food stores. If bitten or stung, dab apple cider vinegar as soon as possible on the bite to draw out any poison and to prevent swelling. Thyme and rosemary infused in the vinegar are especially effective. To learn how to make infused vinegars, check out Roots and Branches.
Homeopathic remedy
Apis: Take 4 pellets under the tongue. Let them dissolve. Homeopathics work great for first aid situations.

Fight Stress The Natural Way

We cant always "get away" for rest and relaxation that our body craves to recoup from all the daily stresses. Daily stresses can take their toll on our bodies. Here is a product that just might help combat some of the stress related damage our bodies experience.

Sustained support through the adrenal aid
The adrenal glands are two walnut-sized structures in the body, situated above each kidney. They consist of two separate regions: an inner adrenal medulla, surrounded by an outer adrenal cortex.
The adrenal gland function is related to the wide variety of hormones released by these structures and is mostly directed by the body’s response to stressors and the chemicals released when certain environments are presented.
As with all structures of the body, the adrenal glands need systemic balance for good health to prevail. The regulation of the cortisol hormone, which stimulates conversion of proteins to carbohydrates, raises blood sugar levels and promotes glycogen storage in the liver by the adrenal glands.
The cortisol hormone is often referred to as the stress hormone, as it is involved in the response to stress. The cortisol hormone has an immunosuppressive action. Balance and systemic equilibrium of the adrenal glands can in turn positively contribute to good metabolic rate, a strong immune system, healthy energy levels, and normal sleep states

The natural way
The adrenal glands are sensitive body structures, responsible for many functions in the body. When they are compromised, a domino effect is created, with one system affecting the next.
Overall health, as well as the well-being and optimum functioning of the adrenal glands, should be addressed. Relaxation methods as well as eating a healthy, balanced diet and exercising regularly can all be of great benefit to adrenal health.
Natural remedies have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years to support the functioning of adrenal glands.
In more recent times, research has confirmed this traditional wisdom. There are now many published clinical studies demonstrating the ability of a range of herbs to support the endocrine system by supporting the body’s ability to cope with fatigue.

(Spasov AA, Wikman GK, Mandrikov VB, Mironova IA, Neumoin VV. “A double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study of the stimulating and adaptogenic effect of Rhodiola rosea SHR-5 extract on the fatigue of students caused by stress during an examination period with a repeated low-dose regimen”.
